Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this more accurate than other online metronomes?
Most metronomes use JavaScript's setTimeout or setInterval, which can drift. This metronome uses the Web Audio API's internal clock, which is accurate to sub-millisecond precision.
What does the orange dot mean?
The larger orange dot marks beat 1 — the downbeat. It also plays a higher-pitched accent click so you can feel the bar structure.
What is tap tempo?
Tap the "Tap" button repeatedly in time with any song or recording. The metronome calculates the average interval from your last 8 taps and sets the BPM automatically.
What is 6/8 time?
6/8 has 6 eighth-note beats per bar, typically felt as two groups of three. It gives music a lilting, rolling feel — common in jigs, ballads, and some pop songs.
